Before his appointment in Grenoble, he was an English teacher and professional illustrator of children's magazines, teenage publications and advertising graphics.
He works in the French education system, training teachers in ICT and general didactics specialising in the use of illustrations in the language class. He has produced software applications for language classes and co-authored an English language textbook ("Flying Colours") for upper secondary pupils. From ECML Workshop 13/98 on TELL in VOLL he was the webmaster for the GRAZVOLL website which he designed, implemented and constantly updated. He has also produced a section on "Web Literacy" on the ECML site for language teachers in French and English.
 He designed his University Language Centre website, which he regards as a crucial tool in implementing foreign language policies for his university, in particular all CEFR-related evaluation approaches.
 He also designed a Language Learning Resource Center website, a portal to various online resources which many language teachers and students in France use as a complementary didactic environment for their courses (http://LanguageLearningResourceCenter.org/ ). This site is also an experimental writing space for students documenting films, as well as a methodology course for a number of competencies, in particular press reading, CV writing and email writing.

Contribution to the project
 
Was the webmaster for the GRAZVOLL website, as well as the GRAZVOLL animator responsible for interactive applications in language teaching and learning with an emphasis on the meaningful integration of text, sound and visuals. Also the creator and webmaster of the ECML website providing an introduction to Web Literacy (the advantages and pitfalls related to the use of the new media in language learning and teaching) : see http://www.ecml.at/projects/voll/our_resources/literacy_english/index.htm. In the proposed new project, his chief role will be to ensure the continued smooth transition of project ideas and products into a web-based presentation form which is readily accessible and comprehensible to practising teachers.
